Setting up the speaker switch settings requires that you have access to the speaker switch web pages.
If you do not already have access to the speaker switch URL then see the Network Setup section.
If you do have access to the speaker switch URL then access it now and then proceed onto the steps detailed below.
Controls Layout
Control of speaker pairs is performed through two specific pages in the speaker switch web interface.
There is a main page (index.php) and a secondary page (index2.php) that contain buttons that are used to control the seven speaker pairs.
The main page has six buttons and the secondary page has four buttons (examples of both pages are shown below).
Hovering the mouse over any button changes its tile color to highlight it.
On the main page, four buttons control the stereo speaker pairs 1 thru 4.
On the secondary page, three buttons control the stereo speaker pairs 5 thru 7.
Each of the seven speaker control buttons has a label that is used to describe the purpose of the controlled speaker pair.
The color of the text for each button indicates when a speaker pair is on (green) or off (red) (see picture above left).
You may click on any of the seven control buttons to control each corresponding pair of speakers.
On the main page, the button labeled "Speakers 5-7" allows access to the secondary page.
On the secondary page, the button labeled "Speakers 1-4" allows access to the main page.
On the main page, clicking on the "Settings" button takes the user to the "Settings" pages of the speaker switch.
The "Settings" button may be hidden so that users do not see it. This simplifies the page and helps to avoid unwanted changes to the speaker switch settings.
When using a mobile device, the buttons will often be shown in a vertical column.
Device Status
Click on the "Settings" button to go to the speaker switch "Status" page. All configuration settings can now be accessed via tabs.
Six tabs are available at the top of the page (as seen in the red box in the picture below).
Clicking on any of those tabs allows access to, and configuration of, the various speaker switch settings.
The "Status" page shows the status of the WiFi network and system parameters (as seen in the green box in the picture below) .
A link to the Katoomba Sound technical support page is shown.
You may click on the "Page Refresh" button to update the "Status" page information.
Speaker Labels
Click on the "Speakers" tab (shown within the orange box in the picture above). This will take you to the speaker button labels and settings page.
In the picture below, speaker labels are shown within the red box:
You can set each of the seven speaker button labels to describe the purpose of each speaker pair.
Simple HTML may be used in conjunction with the label text. CAUTION: use of incorect HTML syntax may cause the control pages to malfunction.
In the picture below, label customizations are shown within the green box:
You can set the text font size, weight, and type.
You can set line breaks for all of the words in the speaker labels.
For each pair of labels (1,2 and 3,4 and 5,6), use labels that have the same number of words. This will keep the buttons in perfect alignment on the control pages.
Various settings will need to be tried in order to get the desired result.
Custom Buttons
The use of the "Custom Buttons" feature is optional.
Now click on the "Buttons" tab and the custom buttons labels and URL settings page is shown (shown in the left picture below):
Two custom buttons are available that may be displayed on the speaker switch control pages.
You can enable or disable each custom button by clicking on the corresponding check box.
Each button must be configured with a display label.
Each button must be configured with a URL.
When a user clicks on the button, the browser will open the URL that is configured for that button.
The buttons may be configured to appear at the top or the bottom of the speaker controls pages.
In the example shown in the image on the left, the buttons have been configured with labels "Thermostat" and "Coffee Pot" and they have also been configured with corresponding URLs.
The the example shown in the image on the right, both custom buttons appear at the top of the main controls pages. The buttons also appear on the secondary controls page.
Another common use for the buttons is to allow quick access to a second speaker switch unit.
Network Settings
Information for setting up the network can be found here.
Options Settings
Now click on the "Options" tab and the general options settings page is shown (shown in the picture below):
Four options allow for adjusting the control pages visual appearance:
The control pages title and subtitle may be configured by setting the "Page Title" or "Page Subtitle" (seen below within the red box).
The colors and style of the control pages may be selected by choosing one from the list in the "Color Scheme" (seen below within the orange box).
Various preconfigured color schemes are available including different colors and font sizes.
Color schemes are based on CSS.
It is possible to create your own CSS and upload them to the speaker switch. For details see Advanced Settings.
The model type is automatically set and cannot be changed (seen below within the yellow box).
The "Settings" button can be hidden or shown on the control pages by setting the "Show Settings Button" tick box (shown below within the green box.
Three settings allow for customizing the behavior of the speaker switch unit (see the purple box in the picture below).
The "LEDs Off Timer" sets the length of time that the LEDs will remain lit after the state of a speaker pair has been changed (either on or off).
The "Browser Refresh" allows for setting the speed that the control pages will refresh in browsers. The recommended setting is 2 seconds.
Maximum speakers controls how many speaker pairs may be active at any one time. It is very important to set this number to a value that your amplifier and speakers can handle. Turning on too many speakers at one time might damage or even destroy your amplifier.
Operating the Speaker Switch
This completes the general setup of the speaker switch device. Now you can move on to: using the Speaker Switch.
